The American basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), LeBron James, has filed four trademark applications for “LEBRON JAMES”, “LEBRON”, “CHOSEN1”, and “KING JAMES”, indicating his intention to enter the metaverse.
According to the trademark application, the basketball player intends to provide non-fungible tokens (NFTs) featuring virtual goods, including footwear, clothing, sports gear, home furnishings, and much more.
Additionally, LeBron James plans to provide users with virtual experiences in the field of basketball, such as virtual basketball courts, gyms, and more, allowing them to play sports in the metaverse.
Trademark lawyer Michael Kondoudis, who tracks Metaverse and NFT trademark filings, tweeted the news earlier today.
