Lebron James and Crypto.com Team Up to Teach Kids About the Blockchain

The education initiative aims to help 1,600 school children in LeBron James’ hometown. But not every Crypto.com user seems to be happy about the partnership.

NBA superstar LeBron James has partnered with crypto exchange Crypto.com to support educational and workforce development opportunities focused on Web 3, according to Crypto.com.

The partnership will provide students and families connected to the four-time NBA champion’s

“I PROMISE” program access to tools and educational resources to participate in Web3.

  • Crypto.com, of course, purchased the naming rights to the Staples Center – home to James’ Los Angeles Lakers – late last year for a reported $700 million. That venue is now named Crypto.com Arena.
  • Many sports stars, such as Steph Curry and Tom Brady, have entered into sponsorship deals with crypto firms, but the partnership is believed to be James’ first major deal with a crypto company.

Crypto.com’s Continued Investment In Sport

Crypto.com took 2021 by storm, aggressively pursuing opportunities in sport sponsorship in a cutthroat race to gain market share. The exchange closed last year on a high-note, ringing in a massive new naming rights deal with the Lakers home venue – formerly Staples Center. Competitors FTX and Coinbase were also aggressive last year, with Coinbase signing a league-wide deal with the NBA and FTX securing Miami Heat arena naming rights, securing Tom Brady and Steph Curry as ambassadors, and more.
